Public transportation directions:

From San Francisco International Airport:

Take the free SkyTrain that circles the airport to the International terminal that has the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stop and descend to the station. Trains run on average every 15 minutes. Purchase your ticket and plan to exit at the 24th Street stop. Keep your ticket on you as you will need it to exit that station. Put your ticket into the turnstile and if you’ve paid in full your ticket will not be returned and you may exit. If you’ve overpaid, it will return your ticket with the available balance. You may exit at the 16th Street stop, though 24th Street is closer, but the fare will be higher.

Exit the station and walk east along 24th Street (the side with McDonald’s) for about two blocks to South Van Ness Avenue and turn left. Continue walking to 943 South Van Ness Avenue.

You may also take a taxi from San Francisco International Airport and the fare will vary depending on time and traffic. A 15-minute trip will cost approximately $50.

For something more affordable, you can take a shuttle which ranges from $12 to $18 per ride. Some companies offer discounts for multiple travelers getting off at one stop or if your destination is an inn and not a residence.

From Downtown:

The BART train will bring you from downtown to the 24th Street stop. Once you get off, walk east on 24th Street, look for the McDonald’s, for two blocks and then turn left onto South Van Ness Avenue.

San Francisco’s municipal system of public transportation:

You may arrive by either the No. 14 Mission bus from downtown or the No. 49 Van Ness bus from Fisherman’s Wharf. The closest stop is on Mission and 20th Streets. Exit the bus at 20th Street and turn east onto 20th Street, walk two blocks to South Van Ness, cross the street and turn right.

You must have the exact fare to ride the bus as the driver does not handle money or make change. Coins and $1 bills are okay. Besides accepting cash fares, our Muni system also has a pass card that you can purchase for one- or three-day access, or the special seven-day tourist passport.

From Oakland International Airport:

Take BART’s Oakland Airport connector train to the Coliseum BART Station and transfer to a San Francisco train and get off at the 24th Street Station. Check times on the BART website.
