5 Things to Know About San Francisco Beer Week 2019

While California, particularly Northern California, is best known for the wine it produces the beer scene in California is just as prominent and noteworthy. And to highlight the city’s beer community, San Francisco hosts an annual beer festival. In its 11th year, San Francisco Beer Week 2019 will promise to bring more beer-centric events than ever before. No matter where you are in the city, you will be sure to find a beer activity near you to discover new beers and re-discover old favorites.

To make the most out of beer week, here are our top five things to know about San Francisco Beer Week 2019.

Opening Gala

Kick off beer week at the opening gala at Pier 35 on February 1st, 2019. Choose from over 120 California breweries pouring unlimited samples of some of their best beers. All gala attendees will receive a commemorative glass and will be able to enjoy samplings from favorite local food vendors. Tickets are available here.

Pliny the Younger Release

Ask any beer aficionado what the most sought-after IPA and they is will tell you Pliny the Younger, of course. This highly anticipated release of Pliny the Younger from the Russian River Brewing Company is one event not to miss. This yearly release will happen on the first Friday of February and is only available for two weeks. The famous triple IPA is brewed with a rotating hop and is only sold in California for a limited amount of time. The event starts at 11:00 AM on February 1st at the Windsor & Santa Rosa locations.

Chocolate making & beer pairing

Plan the perfect date night with the chocolate making and beer pairing event. As San Francisco’s first and only certified organic craft brewery, the ThirstyBeer Brewing Company will be hosting a chocolate making class accompanied with a select line up of beer pairings. The event starts at 6:00 PM on February 2nd.

Also, be sure check out their ever-popular Paella Fest on February 7th. Enjoy unlimited Paella, ThirstyBear organic beers, and live flamenco guitar.

Local Beer & Cheese

Don’t worry if beer and chocolate pairing isn’t your thing, San Francisco Beer Week 2019 will also offer a beer and cheese pairing event! The Cheese School of San Francisco, now located in Ghirardelli Square, will be hosting an event highlighting the great cheeses of Northern California, paired with local craft brews. Cost for the class is $79 and is held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on February 7th, 2019.

San Francisco Brewing Co.’s Party

Cap off the week with San Francisco Brewing Co.’s decompression and 7th-anniversary party. The Stu Tails, a local reggae/rock band, will be performing in the beer garden from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. To close out the evening, DJ Adam Spread will play the latest hits from 8:00 PM to close. The event will be held February 7th, 2019.
